HAPPY NEW YEAR! WOW! Now that another holiday season has come and gone, it’s time to start anew. What New Year resolution have you come up with this time? If you’re anything like me, you’ve come up with that impractical fantasy of becoming “The Next Top Model.” I know, don’t despair. Just because you’ve not had great success in the past is not the barometer for your future. This year will be different! Isn’t dreaming so much fun! Don’t get me wrong, everyone need a good fantasy. Besides, you just might be the next top model. If not, you still can make desired changes to your life. What are the steps for effective change?

  1. Are you aware that change is needed? Without that awareness, there will be no change.

  2. What are you changing?

  3. Why does it need to be changed?

  4. What are you replacing it with?

  5. Is the change sustainable? Can you live without the deleted activity?

  6. How well does the new activity fit into your current life style?

  7. What impact, if any, does it have on those around you?

  8. What is the outcome and how will you know you’ve reached it?

  9. Make plans that with each day bring you closer to your desired outcome.

Real change is possible. Remember, whatever you’re trying to overcome did not happen overnight so time to end an undesired activity and routinely commit to a new activity is an important factor in achieving your goal.

The Creator has a purpose for your life. In the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plan that I have for you, says the Lord, plans of good and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Change is easier when your life has a purpose. Find it. Live it. Love it. Be inspired to begin again.
